Module 1 - Effectively Supervising Others

Effectively supervising people in a medical practice can be a challenge in the best of circumstances. With a solid understanding of how to supervise others, this course will:
 
- Clarify the scope and nature of a supervisory position
- Provide practical ways to deal with the challenges of supervising others
- Help one recognize the responsibilities they have as a supervisor, to themselves, the team and the practice.

Module 2- Fundamentals Of Effective Leadership

The fundamentals of effective leadership are examined to help participants learn important attributes to leadership such as:
 
- Acquiring a basic understanding of leadership, team building, communication and motivation, as well as what part they play in effective supervision.
- Develop strategies for motivating those they lead, giving effective feedback, and resolving conflict.

Module 3- Team Building

Every medical practice needs effective teamwork in order to deliver the best patient experience. This course is designed to provide leaders in a medical practice with:
 
- A basic understanding of team building and its importance
- Allow participants to explore their role as a leader in developing a high-performance team
-Allow the participant to develop strategies to motivate their team

Module 4- Communication Skills

Effective communication skills are needed to lead a medical practice. Without effective communication skills, it is impossible to properly lead a team to provide the best patient experience.

This course will:
- Help leader identify and develop skills for effective communication in a medical practice
- Deepen a leader's understanding of communication barriers
- Develop strategies for overcoming communication barriers through active listening skills, questioning skills and probing techniques
- Strengthen skills for providing feedback

Module 5 -Managing Disciplinary Issues

Discipline is part of running an efficient organization. The word "discipline" comes from the word "disciple," which means "to mold or teach." Discipline is not meant as a negative term, although people often think of it in terms of punishment. Discipline can and should be viewed as a positive part of a supervisor’s responsibilities. Training and motivating are equally important parts of positive discipline. It is also perhaps the most volatile, explosive, and sensitive area in employee relations.
This course provides:
- A better understanding of how to be fair in disciplining members of a team
- Effective strategies for managing disciplinary issues
- Checklists to ensure that all necessary steps are taken during the disciplinary process.

Module 6- Managing Difficult Conversations

We have so many interactions in the run of a day, it’s reasonable to expect that some of them are going to be difficult. Whether these are conversations that you have in person, or you manage multiple practices and need to speak with someone in across town, there are things that you can do to make these conversations go smoothly. This module will give you the tools to manage difficult conversations and get the best results possible out of them.
At the end of this module, you will be able to:
• Define frame of reference
• Establish a positive intent and a desired outcome
• Use effective communication skills during a conversation
• Draft a script for a difficult conversation
• Use specific steps to carry out a difficult conversation
• Access additional resources as required
• Maintain safety in a conversation
